When architect and interior designer Carol Kurth of Carol Kurth Architecture + Interiors started designing the modern home, dubbed Art House 2.0, she knew she wanted to create a gallery-like feeling that blended her client’s contemporary art collection with the towering trees and natural stone that surrounds the property.

She achieved the artistic aesthetic through large glass openings, including a Series 600 Multi-Slide Door that provides a seamless flow from the interior to the exterior.

Kurth used a combination of indigenous materials and big glass to accentuate the balance of nature and art throughout the home. A Series 600 Window Wall frames a lush green landscape studded with sculptures.

“When we are looking for a window company, I’m looking for expansive windows, and I’m looking for this floor-to-ceiling effect. I’ve got these high spaces, and the Western Window Systems products that we had custom-designed worked so well for the concept that we were trying to create,” Kurth says. “The ability for us to work with one manufacturer to create all of these different elements was really crucial.”

The entryway to the home features a Series 900 Hinged Door, which augments the home’s clean, modern look.

“One of the things that I really like about the Western Window Systems multi-slide units and the door units is that we have those thin sightlines, and the hardware is unobtrusive and it actually fits right into the profile,” Kurth says. “It’s just really great to be able to maintain that integrity around the entire glazed opening.”

The home’s tiled floors, floor-to-ceiling glass, and skylights that punctuate the spaces work in tandem to create an open and airy home that showcases beauty inside and out.

“It just feels like a very relaxed, open, and cheerful place to live,” Kurth says.
